Info via Email:
Weather
forecasts can be obtained via email, including SailMail, by
sending a email request to NOAA.
To obtain a 1 - 2 page
text message of the weather forecast for the Eastern
Pacific Ocean off
Mexico and Central America send the following email:
Address email to:
ftpmail@weather.noaa.gov
Type the following into
the text portion of message:
open
cd data
cd forecasts
cd marine
cd high_seas
get east_pacific_2.txt
quit
(Note:
Some programs, like PocketMail,
require several blank lines at the beginning of the text message
before the word "open"; otherwise, you keep getting
an error message returned from noaa.gov.
Be sure you type the wording
exactly. Some common mistakes are to leave the "s"
off forecasts and trying to combine all the "cd"s
into one string.
